Kate and William spend a night at our last resort Hotel Du Palais, Biarritz
Turns out the hotel profiled in April’s Resorts News ‘Last Resort’ feature really is fit for royalty!
With reports that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge stayed at the Hotel Du Palais, Biarritz with Prince George and Princess Charlotte during their recent summer vacation.
French publication Sud Ouest reported that the British royal couple arrived in a private jet last week at Pau airport in the South of France. The publication stated: “William and Kate, accompanied by the Prince George and Princess Charlotte, were seen in Biarritz. They spent a night at the Hotel du Palais, former Imperial residence of Napoleon III and Eugenia de Montijo.”
In April, we reported on this hotel: a Basque legend, built in 1854 by Napoleon 111 as a gift to his stunning wife. The imperial family’s summer residence is now a five-star hotel owned by SEM, member of the Leading Hotels of the World. A basic room there will cost you AU$740 dollars a night and is still the epitome of luxury, style and good taste.
We detailed how its refurbishment is a long-term, ongoing endeavour with each room and piece of furniture tailored with finesse and authenticity. The results are spectacular, preserving the distinctiveness and style of the Napoleon 111 period.
Sadly, we can confirm that, as far as we know, the royal couple do not subscribe to Resort News!
