Treetop travel sky rockets

Two sky-high, eco-friendly hotels in Queensland have taken out top spots in the Hotels.com Loved by Guests Awards for 2017, which revealed almost a 30 percent increase in demand for treehouse hotels last year.

Ten amazing hotels were crowned winners in the brand new Best for Treehouse Loved by Guests category, which was judged on the overall hotel experience and implementation of eco-friendly accommodation. The data revealed that treetop luxury (33 percent) proved more popular than sleeping in a spaceship (28 percent), checking into a hotel made of gold (24 percent) or bedding down in an ice hotel (23 percent).

Hotels.com marketing manager for Australia and New Zealand, David Spasovic, said the rise in demand for sky-high accommodation was testament to an increasingly adventurous and eco-friendly travel industry.

“Treetop luxury is proving an incredibly sought-after holiday, and Hotels.com is proud to play a part in delivering exciting accommodation that both conserves and restores the environment.”

The two award winning Queensland treetop hotels include the Daintree Eco Lodge & Spa in North Queensland’s Daintree Rainforest, and Silky Oaks Lodge Mossman, located along Queensland’s Mossman River, Daintree Rainforest and Great Barrier Reef.
