InterContinental Hotels & Resorts achieves record wins

InterContinental Hotels & Resorts claimed 41 award wins at the recent World Travel Awards Asia & Australasia Gala Ceremony 2017 held in Shanghai, China. 

The InterContinental Hotels & Resorts brand, which is owned by InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG), was presented numerous awards including Asia’s Leading Luxury Business Hotel Brand for the fourth consecutive year, Asia’s Leading Business Hotel Brand and Asia’s Leading Hotel Brand for the sixth year in a row, as well as Australasia’s Leading Business Hotel for the second time.
 
A plethora of InterContinental hotels and resorts across Asia, Australasia and the Pacific were honoured with award wins in a variety of categories, including InterContinental Danang Sun Peninsula Resort, lauded as Asia’s Leading Luxury Resort, Asia’s Leading Fine Dining Hotel Restaurant, Asia’s Leading Luxury Hotel Villa, and Vietnam’s Leading Resort.
Bruce Ryde, head of luxury & lifestyle brand marketing, Asia, Middle East and Africa said: “We are thrilled to announce that we have once again surpassed the previous year’s record number of award wins, with a total of 41 wins this year – five more than last year’s haul.

InterContinental hotels and resorts in South East Asia walked away with 20 of the wins on the night. InterContinental Samui Baan Taling Ngam Resort won four major awards, including Thailand’s Leading Beach Resort and Asia’s Most Romantic Resort, while InterContinental Singapore was named Singapore’s Leading Hotel.
 
The WTA was launched in 1993 to acknowledge excellence in the travel and tourism industry and is now in its 24th year. Awards are presented across three tiers: country, regional and world awards, based on votes by the public and travel professionals worldwide.
