John Hart moves to executive chair of Australian Chamber – Tourism

Well known industry figure John Hart has been appointed as executive chair of Australian Chamber – Tourism, intending to make the voices of Australian accommodation and other tourism businesses are heard.

John has 30 years of industry experience and has recently stepped down after 18 years as chief executive of the Restaurant and Catering Australia. John has served as non-executive chair of Australian Chamber – Tourism and its predecessor National Tourism Alliance for five years.

James Pearson, chief executive of the Australian Chamber of Commerce and Industry said: “John is powerful advocate with decades of industry experience.  John will be a strong voice for tourism, ensuring political representatives understand the importance of tourism to our nation’s future.”

“John will ensure the voices of the 270,000 businesses across accommodation, food services, retail trade and transport that make up this vital part of our economy are heard in Canberra.”

John Hart, executive chair of Australian Chamber – Tourism, said: “Our economy is undergoing a profound structural change and tourism presents an important opportunity for jobs growth across Australia, with record numbers of international tourists as well as solid performance in domestic tourism. More than ever, Tourism needs a strong and united tourism industry voice to government and the community, and Australian Chamber – Tourism is well positioned to represent a broad cross section of industries that are involved in tourism.”
