The new hotel key that unlocks the city
AVANI Hotels & Resorts has opened its first property in Broadbeach, Gold Coast, offering guests a ‘keys to the city’ experience.
In a unique first, AVANI will be connecting directly with guests using Facebook Messenger technology. Guests can use their mobile phones to scan a Facebook Messenger code, found on their hotel room key, to chat live with a local guide, anytime, anywhere and as often as they like during the launch.
The hotel brand will be teaming up with Queensland local and Gold Coast lover, Laura Dundovic and and four everyday locals, with a love for Broadbeach. They will be providing their top tips live during the hotel launch week December 5 to 11.
Laura first came to attention when she was crowned Miss Universe Australia in 2008, recently took part in I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here and was the host of Foxtel’s Dating in the Dark. The Australian model and television presenter said applicants need to meet just one criteria – they must live and breathe all things Broadbeach.
“I spend a lot of time in Brisbane and need my dose of Vitamin Sea as often as I can get it. Broadbeach is my go to destination & I can’t wait to share it with AVANI guests. We want to find locals with just as much passion for this beautiful place. If you know where to find those hidden gems and secret spots that really make the Gold Coast special, get involved!”

“Hotel keys generally only open one door. At AVANI, our keys open the door to the city. We pay attention to guests’ experiences not just inside our properties but outside too.”“With so many people using their mobile phones to search for travel inspiration, often finding the same things as everyone else, Keys to the City is a fun way to use our hotel keys to connect our guests not just with the city, but with the people who love it – our AVANIMe guides.”
The Keys to the City experience is a new addition to the brands international AVANIMe initiative. AVANIMe brings to life travel experiences as seen through the lens of celebrities and travel bloggers.
AVANI Broadbeach will open its doors on the December 4, with the Keys to the City experience running until December 11. The initiative will continue after the launch with the hotels Facebook Messenger code remaining on room keys and the Guest Experience team will use it as an avenue to communicate with Guests and provide their own recommendations.
The hotel is a much anticipated arrival on the Gold Coast with availability for the Games. The One and Two Bedroom Suites take cool, coastal living to a new level, featuring spacious open-plan layouts, fully equipped kitchens with top-line appliances, relaxing lounge and dining areas, smart TVs, laundry facilities, private balconies and complimentary Wi-Fi.
