TripAdvisor data reveals booking trends

2017 was a year of growth for user-generated content on TripAdvisor…

Since reaching the half billion reviews and opinions milestone in April 2017, TripAdvisor has continued to grow with over 570 million contributions now published on the site, covering the world’s largest selection of travel listings – with 7.3 million accommodations, airlines, attractions, and restaurants. As the year comes to an end, we have compiled some interesting global and local trends about the most reviewed and booked places in 2017.
 
Australian reviewers submitted 17,881 reviews to TripAdvisor in one day – July 11 – more than any other day of the year. The most reviewed places in Australia include:
 
  • Most reviewed hotel: Amora Hotel Jamison Sydney
  • Most reviewed attraction: Sydney Opera House
  • Most reviewed eatery: Chin Chin
  • Most reviewed destination: Melbourne
  • Most booked attraction: Gordon River Cruises
  • Number of different locations worldwide that received a review from Australian travellers: 405,628
  • Number of businesses in Australia that received their first review in 2017: 16,106
