Rydges Sydney Central says cheers to brewery relaunch
Microbrewery Sydney Brewery Surry Hills has relaunched at Rydges Sydney Central, designed to capture Surry Hills’ inner-city culture
The Jerry Schwartz-owned Rydges Sydney Central has relaunched its Sydney Brewery Surry Hills microbrewery, bar and bistro.
Eight years after the venue launched, the refurbishment has been designed to capture the essence of Surry Hills’ inner-city culture and industrial warehouses, with exposed brick and concrete walls and street art throughout. Retaining the character that has defined the venue over the years while also modernising the space, upgrades include a new pool table, a large new screen for live sports and updated furnishings.

The brewery bistro has removed poker machines from an adjoining room and transformed the space into a light-filled venue for patrons, with views across the tree-lined Albion Street.

Brittany Peacock-Smith, General Manager of Rydges Sydney Central, said: “The upgrade reflects everything we love about this neighbourhood: its energy, its character and its people. We’ve put a lot of care into creating a space that feels fresh while staying true to what locals and our regular guests already love about it. It’s been great to welcome everyone back.”

Sydney Brewery Surry Hills has established itself as a hub for craft beer lovers, a venue where patrons can watch brewers at work as they sip fresh brews, enjoy tasty pub food, listen to live music from local bands, and then take home a fresh growler of quality craft brew.
Sydney Brewery’s Danielle McDonald and Nate Holgersson brewed a special beer for the relaunch: a Hoppy Golden Pale Ale, with artwork featuring the Surry Hills night skyline.
