A $65 million development catering to the burgeoning medical tourism market has opened in Brisbane’s western suburbs.
Located above the new Westside Private Hospital, Essence Suites Taringa boasts 63 luxuriously appointed studios, one and two-bedroom suites in Queensland’s first hotel and hospital development.
While it is marketed as an “ideal accommodation choice for business or leisure stays”, the new development is primarily designed to cater to Westside patients and relatives.
Westside Private Hospital CEO Ben Korst said: “Westside Private Hospital is Brisbane’s newest short stay private hospital.
[pro_ad_display_adzone id=”15046″ align=”left”]The suites provide comfort and an escape for those facing the spectre of hospital treatment, while also offering conference and meeting facilities for business travellers.
“With direct lift access to Essence Suites Taringa, we know that Queensland’s only hotel and hospital is a welcome addition to Brisbane’s west.”
Tomas Johnsson, CEO of owner UniLodge Australia, said: “As a uniquely integrated hotel and hospital building, Essence Suites Taringa is a fantastic new addition to our growing portfolio of healthcare accommodation properties throughout Australia and cements our role in the tourism space.”
According to Unilodge, the property is designed to be a “one-stop shop” for patients and guests, allowing them to drive into one car park, drop children at the childcare centre and stop for a bite at Amaretto Restaurant, Café & Bar before checking into the suites or the hospital.
Located at 28-32 Morrow Street close to Taringa train station, the University of Queensland and the Indooroopilly Golf Club, Unilodge says the property is equally convenient for travellers without a hospital connection who are looking to stay locally.
Johnsson says: “Situated in the leafy suburb of Taringa, with sweeping views out to Brisbane CBD, the property consists of 63 beautifully appointed suites featuring kitchenettes with ultramodern appliances, Smart TV, Foxtel and wifi with some suites also fitted with beautiful sofa lounges.
“Essence Suites Taringa boasts great facilities to make any purpose stay a special one.”
