InterContinental wins big on world stage
InterContinental Hotels Group has won numerous gongs at the World Travel Awards for Asia & Oceania judged last week in Phu Quoc, Vietnam.
InterContinental was named Oceania’s Leading Hotel Brand while InterContinental Melbourne The Rialto was crowned Oceania’s Leading Hotel.
InterContinental Sydney claimed four awards including the title of Australia’s Leading Hotel for the second consecutive year.
The hotel’s business traveller appeal was recognised, with InterContinental Sydney named Leading Business Hotel and winning the gong for the region’s Leading Executive Club Lounge following numerous previous successes in both categories.
It’s Australia Suite, with sweeping views of Sydney Harbour and the city, was also named Australia’s Leading Hotel Suite.
The hotel’s general manager, Jennifer Brown, said: “It is an extraordinary accomplishment to receive these titles of recognition for the excellence we provide both leisure and business travellers at InterContinental Sydney, especially with two of these for the sixth consecutive year.
“We are exceptionally proud to be recognised as an eminent brand in the industry through these awards and will continue to uphold these standards of luxury service for all guests in the years to come.”
Established in 1993, the awards celebrate excellence across all sectors of the tourism industry and are voted for by industry professionals and guests. Regional winners will compete for the title of ‘world’s best’ at a grand final ceremony in Muscat, Oman, on 28 November.
Other Antipodean winners included Air New Zealand, judged Oceania’s leading airline, and Brisbane Airport, named Oceania’s leading airport.
