Luxury camping and bookings windfall

Nightfall Camp at Lamington in the Gold Coast hinterland has plenty to offer.

More than 100 hectares of pristine rainforest and a return of $300,000 a year – with much more in the offering.

That’s the majestic and unique Nightfall Camp at Lamington in the Gold Coast hinterland.

Expressions of interest are being invited for this remarkable property that has managed to tap into the booming demand of ecotourism and “glamping” – otherwise known as luxury camping.

The property charges guests $935 a night to sleep in a tent in a lush bush oasis, and is so popular that the accommodation is sold out until July next year.

In a large and relatively untouched pocket of forest at Lamington, Queensland, Nightfall’s luxury tents sit delicately poised and well-spaced beside the crystal-clear tumbling headwaters of Christmas Creek and Queensland’s ancient Lamington National Park rainforests.

Nightfall Camp is a business that allows its owners to make a tremendous income while at the same time waking every morning to birdsong in a luxury customised safari tent right in the middle of tropical rainforest.

The property has 1.4 kilometres of Christmas Creek running through it and morning cuppas often have platypus, wallabies and owls watching on.

Steve Campbell from Resort Brokers has never marketed a property like Nightfall Camp because few like it exist.

“It’s a unique and spectacular place,” Mr Campbell said.

“The vendors bought the land 10 years ago and occupied between four and five acres of the 257 acres on the property. The rest remains as pristine rainforest.

“They then built from hand five large custom-made tents on the site that are designed to fit into the environment.

“The tents are 62 square metres and guests can wind up all the sides to have an indoor/outdoor feel, For winters each tent has a 360-degree rotating fireplace in the middle.

“The vendors are selling the whole freehold of the property. They haven’t given us an indication of what they will accept, but they are committed sellers.”

Mr Campbell said Nightfall Camp made $300,000 a year but was currently only open on weekends because the vendors believed in a healthy work/life balance. Of 34 Google reviews for the property all 34 were five stars.

“Up until the 31st of December the tents were selling for $795 a night per tent, then from the 1st of January they went to $935,” Mr Campbell said.

“They are so popular that the accommodation is completely –100 per cent – sold out until July next year. The vendors live in one of the tents and rent out the other four on weekends.”

Mr Campbell said the property had approval for three more luxury tents so there was “huge upside potential.”
