The move is a far cry from when Mr Singh first joined the company in 2001 as a management trainee at The Renaissance Mumbai Hotel before moving to Australia four years later to take up a role at Sydney Harbour Marriott.

He was then promoted to Operations Manager at Courtyard by Marriott North Ryde before a move to Melbourne Marriott as Director of Operations in 2012, followed by a return to Sydney two years later to join the team at Pier One Sydney Harbour, before a second term in Melbourne at Element Melbourne and AC Hotel.

Mr Singh also successfully launched the award-winning Element Melbourne Richmond in 2018.

Marriott International, Area Vice President, AZNP, Sean Hunt said Mr Singh’s appointment demonstrates Marriott’s commitment to providing long-term career prospects for their employees.

“Talent retention and internal promotion, as well as diversity and inclusion programs, mentoring and wellbeing are all key focus areas of the business,” Mr Hunt said.

“Harry has proved to be a hardworking, insightful and valuable team member over the past 20 years and will play a vital role in the successful management of our hotels across the portfolio during a busy time of growth for the company,” he said.

Singh commenced his career in 2001 as a Management Trainee at The Renaissance Mumbai Hotel and moved to Australia four years later to take up a role at Sydney Harbour Marriott. He was then promoted to Operations Manager at Courtyard by Marriott North Ryde.

A move to Melbourne Marriott as Director of Operations in 2012 was followed by a return to Sydney two years later to join the team at Pier One Sydney Harbour, before a second term in Melbourne at Element Melbourne and AC Hotel.

Mr Singh said he is looking forward to returning to Sydney and working with the talented staff across Marriott’s 40 plus hotels to collectively elevate the group’s well-known service standards.

“I have been in the hospitality industry for 21 years and I still find myself loving it each day. The opportunities to travel, the potential to meet new people and work in an exciting environment with other passionate associates is unparalleled.

“As the industry heads into recovery after a tough couple of years, I look forward to helping inject the fun back into hospitality, bringing the reason why we chose this industry in the first place to the forefront.”
