Expedia Group expands B2B platform, launches GenAI-powered travel discovery tools

The updates aim to enhance how partners engage travellers and streamline operations while introducing new ways for consumers to discover and book travel through AI-powered tools.

Expedia Group has announced a major expansion of its B2B technology platform, unveiling a suite of new APIs, advertising innovations, and GenAI-driven features at its flagship EXPLORE™ event.

The updates aim to enhance how partners engage travellers and streamline operations while introducing new ways for consumers to discover and book travel through AI-powered tools.

New APIs unlock end-to-end trip packaging

Expedia is scaling its Private Label Solutions segment with a new generation of APIs designed to offer more integrated travel experiences. The new APIs include:

  • Car API: Access to inventory from over 110 brands across 190 countries and territories, including 43 exclusive providers.

  • Activities API: Enables partners to offer more than 170,000 bookable experiences globally.

  • Insurance API: Currently being tested on Expedia TAAP, allowing travel agents to include trip protection in the booking process.

  • Air API: Will soon enable seamless integration of air travel with accommodation and car hire for complete trip packages.

These tools are designed to drive loyalty, customer engagement, and revenue through AI, automation, and deeper inventory access.

Reservation Management API promises significant cost savings

Expedia also introduced its new Reservation Management API, designed to improve hotel efficiency and reduce manual workload. According to the company, the tool could save partners an estimated 8 million hours and $120 million annually in operational costs.

The API includes 15 new features and is built using GraphQL to streamline bookings, payment handling, data recovery, and guest servicing. It supports real-time issue resolution and aligns with Expedia Group’s vision of Autonomous Supply — a tech-driven model to enhance operational independence for suppliers.

GenAI redefines travel inspiration

A key innovation unveiled is Expedia Trip Matching, a new feature launching in June that allows users to share travel-related Instagram reels with Expedia and receive tailored itineraries, destination suggestions, and travel tips based on the content. The feature is currently in beta and available via Expedia.com/tripmatching.

Expedia Group is also integrating its search and booking capabilities with OpenAI Operator and Microsoft Copilot Actions to close the gap between travel discovery on AI platforms and actual bookings.

In addition, the latest update to the AI Agent on the Hotels.com app combines conversational discovery, booking assistance, and customer servicing into one interface. The tool draws on Expedia’s travel data to offer real-time pricing, guest reviews, and customised recommendations.

New advertising tools and partnerships

Expedia Group Advertising, formerly Media Solutions, has introduced several new offerings to help partners reach high-intent travellers earlier in their planning journey:

  • Sponsored Listings: Now available to B2B partners to increase visibility and drive bookings.

  • Creative partnerships: Through a collaboration with Beautiful Destinations, partners can co-create shoppable travel content reaching over 50 million followers.

  • Offsite targeting: Integration with The Trade Desk allows partners to use Expedia’s first-party data to target audiences beyond Expedia-owned platforms.

  • Advertiser-Funded Loyalty: Destination Marketing Organisations (DMOs) can now sponsor OneKeyCash loyalty rewards to incentivise visits and boost booking value.
