“It’s encouraging to see targeted investment aimed at attracting more business events into Western Sydney,” said Ms McBride.
“Business events are a key driver of occupancy outside peak leisure periods and play an important role in building demand across the accommodation and broader hospitality sector.”
Ms McBride said attracting business events and conferences to Western Sydney makes sense with the Western Sydney Airport due to open soon.
“With the first passenger flights landing in October 2026 now is the perfect time for growth and expansion,” she said.

“We know that conferences and events lead to more international tourists overall.
“Investing in this area builds confidence and leads to more investment which eventually means more secure jobs in tourism and the accommodation sectors.”
