ATEC announces appointment of new Chairman

ATEC has announced the appointment of Richard Doyle as Chairman

The Australian Tourism Export Council (ATEC) has announced the appointment of Richard Doyle as its new Chairman, to serve a three-year term commencing later this year.

A long-standing ATEC board member and Deputy Chair, Doyle has worked as General Manager, Global Sales of SeaLink Marine & Tourism and recently moved his focus to independent industry consultation, drawing on his extensive knowledge and experience.

Doyle brings a strong background in international marketing, strategic planning, sales leadership, and stakeholder engagement, with extensive tourism and trade networks across Southeast Asia, Northeast Asia, the USA, UK, Europe, and Japan. Doyle is a member of Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD).

ATEC Board and members extend their sincere thanks and appreciation to outgoing Chairman, Denis Pierce, for his significant contribution and leadership over the last 9 years, supporting the organisation through the challenges of the pandemic years.

As well as performing the role of Chairman over recent years, Denis has been a long-time leader of Australia’s inbound tourism industry, a contribution recognised in 2000 when he received ATEC’s Captain Trevor Haworth Award for Outstanding Contribution to the tourism export industry.

The formal transition of Chairmanship will take place at ATEC’s National Board meeting in early September.
