This investment ensures that staff not only understand the fundamentals of hotel revenue management, but also gain practical insights into pricing, forecasting, and profitability across revenue generating departments.
Troy Scott, General Manager – Grand Hotel Townsville, said the initiative builds on the group’s long relationship with ARMA:
“Prendiville has had a strong partnership with ARMA since 2016, and we value their continued support. We’re proud to take the next step by making revenue management training a requirement for all front office and rooms staff within their first two months of employment. This ensures our people are commercially aware from day one, and it also creates opportunities for more employees to aspire to careers as revenue managers.”
By embedding revenue management skills at entry level, Prendiville Group is building a robust succession pipeline and developing important commercial skills of value to the portfolio.
Melissa Kalan, Executive Chair of ARMA, welcomed the partnership:
“Prendiville Group is leading the way in recognising the value of revenue management skills for new employees who influence guest experience and commercial outcomes. Their proactive approach is a model for how hotels can invest in their people during onboarding, where commercial acumen is just as essential for new staff as customer service and operational skills.”
With a strong focus on people development, Prendiville Group’s initiative highlights a shift in the sector – one that recognises the equal importance of instilling commercial acumen early and the long-term value this brings to both employees and employers.
