Aria Apartments

Brad and Lisa Peters are what you would call a dream team.

Brad was operations manager in a large employment agency prior to purchasing Aria with wife Lisa. After 10 years with the company, managing 100 plus staff, 13 sites over three different states, it was time to move on. It was a decision carefully made, after looking into many of different businesses, Aria Apartments was the best option to utilise both their skills, although it took a little encouraging for Lisa to purchase another management rights business.

Brad is very hands on and extremely energetic person, who is relishing in getting his hands dirty with the body corporate work, gardening and ensuring all units are maintained at a high standard. “Many skills that have come back to him from renovations and mining work, he is very excited not to be sitting behind a desk,” says Lisa.

A keen gardener indulging the little extra time he has between juggling work and family, Brad turns his hands to mulching, hedging and planting, with many owners applauding him for the appearance of the gardens. Lisa laughs because many guests and owners ask how he gets the energy, the secret she states, “The one time PE teacher, he goes to the gym when he is tired and comes out refreshed”.

Lisa is the driving force behind the marketing, communications and assisting guests to ensure they have a great stay. Owning and running many businesses including management rights and 12 years a Professional Corporate Services (PCS) Finance, she has many years being a financial partner, financing countless people into management rights businesses. Lisa invested into the industry after selling her first business PCS, as a shelf company business. And having built a strong reputation for her marketing expertise she has held her full management rights license for eight years.

Today Lisa handles ‘the paper shuffling’ as she calls it. But she says her intentions are to complete her MBA at Griffith Gold Coast in the next couple of years. “With not many modules to go, I will have to take my time with it now but I find that it gives me inspiration to achieve better results in business.”

Joining forces with the business both Brad and Lisa are very confident that they can contribute and strengthen Aria Apartments as a unique place to stay.

Brad and Lisa will not be alone, in running the business happily they have retained the current staff to ensure all guests and owners still have the comfort of a family feeling. “You simply can’t undervalue staff with experience and understanding in management rights,” says Lisa.

AN34-3-ARIA3The funniest moment to date Lisa explain was on the third night after moving in when she woke Brad after a urgent phone call stating the fire alarm is going off in unit 1006. “I sent Brad on a hunt for the alarm, saying if you get to the fire panel and stop the alarm, if it is a false alarm we may not have the fire department come out,” she said. “Brad went racing up to the apartment, rang the old manager all being 4.00am to as he couldn’t see or hear any alarm. Next morning I realised the alarm phone call was from the building that I was looking after for the four months before moving into Aria. ‘Sorry sweety I said… welcome to management rights’,” added Lisa.

When works not on the agenda Brad and Lisa are most happy with their two young boys (three and five). Both boys transitioned from house to unit really well, with the eldest often encouraging the whole family to go to the pool after work so he can do laps.

“Of course running a property is hard work, time consuming and sometimes stressful but we are finding it really rewarding,” admits Lisa. “And with the Commonwealth Games just around the corner our five year plan has just been pushed out a couple extra years, however we are really excited and hope we make a difference.”
