Movie star homestead now welcomes guests
The Barossa Valley has a new luxury property due to open on 1 July after a major refurbishment program.
Kingsford Homestead is a seven-suite property set on the banks of the North Para River in 225ha of rolling farmland less than 50kms from Adelaide.
Built in 1856, Kingsford Homestead, owned by Stefan and Leanne Ahrens – a third generation Barossa family, was made from Scottish sandstone transported to Australia as ship ballast. Today, at the helm of this exciting new property are Pat and Sally Kent who previously managed both Arkaba Homestead in the Flinders Ranges and Portee Station in the Riverland.
This is a property used to being in the spotlight and is no stranger to dramatic situations – Kingsford Homestead initially came to the fore in a popular Australian television series called McLeod’s Daughters that was screened in Australia and around the globe for about eight years.
The refurbished Kingsford Homestead is due to welcome guests for a minimum two-night stay with dinner, bed and breakfast and all beer, wine and soft drinks included. Facilities will include being able to dine in the converted underground cellar, a spa room and an all-weather pool house to be completed as stage 2 of the project and a commercial kitchen in which renowned Barossa caterers will whip up an array of culinary delights for overnight guests.
