New B&B offers authentic farm stay in the Barossa
A new accommodation offering an authentic farm stay experience will soon open in South Australia’s Barossa attracting families and food and wine enthusiasts and lovers of pork.
Tourism minister Leon Bignell said Barossa Farm Cottage would be a welcome addition to the Barossa region’s tourism offering. “The property will provide new, four-star modern accommodation with its point of difference being that it is an integral part of an operating farm, Barossa Heritage Pork,” Minister Bignell said.
“This will be an ideal place to stay for families with children who want to experience farm life or for high-yield experience seekers who love food and wine.”
The South Australian Tourism Commission has committed $11,000 to the project under its Tourism Development Support Program.
The two bedroom cottage will be furnished by local artist and furniture maker Peter Hart and will also offer complimentary farm and vineyard tours. Guests will also be able to cook with produce from the farm.
“Barossa Farm Cottage will offer visitors a true ‘paddock to plate’ experience.”
Owner of Barossa Farm Cottage Michael Wohlstadt said the funding would go a long way towards getting the new development up and running. “This strategic allocation of resources will help plug the gap of high quality accommodation in the Barossa and add another authentic visitor experience to the region’s offering,” Mr Wohlstadt said.
Barossa Heritage Pork is a premium food brand in the Barossa.
