Southport development for 236 apartments
Brisbane-based developer Philip Usher is seeking council approval for a high-rise project it wants to build in Southport on the Gold Coast.
The unusual design involves the top section appearing larger than that at the bottom and will feature 236 apartments in the top tier. Offices, medical centres, language schools and a small number of shops and restaurants are expected to be located in the lower tier while the area between the two sections would be a recreational place for tower residents.
The site was originally approved for a seven-storey tower with 81 apartments but the land now sits in the Southport Priority Development Area which has no height restrictions.
