Fine Food means business

In a city already known for its love of quality food, Melbourne is about to show off its culinary know-how at a whole new level. Not only is Fine Food Australia 2014 the biggest show in the event’s history – encompassing the entire 30,000m² of the Melbourne Convention & Exhibition Centre – it also has the most extensive business and education sessions ever.

It’s well known that the business benefits of attending Fine Food Australia include educational master classes, Q&As with key industry figures, demonstrations, as well as the opportunity to build relationships, drive business, and be inspired about this incredible industry. A group of truly inspiring industry leaders, Chefs from Les Toques Blanches (French for The White Hat), the internationally recognised peak body for professional executive chefs, will be presenting master classes and seminars to inspire, provoke discussion, and encourage excellence amongst chefs and restaurateurs.

The Les Toques Blanches sessions are completely free, and offer visitors to Fine Food Australia the opportunity to hear the latest from the leading culinary experts in their field, on such topics as seafood sustainability, the next common protein to be seen on menus, the steps to obtain a good restaurant review, senior culinary accountability, and what is involved in writing a culinary book.

Designed to offer real benefit for every level of experience and responsibility in the commercial culinary field, the Les Toques Blanches sessions target restaurateurs, executive chefs, chef de cuisines, cooks and chefs, and apprentices from venues of all scales.

Business benefits and insights continue across the show floor with the first time Talking Food feature also guaranteed to inspire as well as provide practical information for those in the food business. From upcoming trends to interviews with big industry names, and from alternative beverages and back of house design, the Talking Food sessions will differ every day to ensure visitors gain as much information as possible. Suitable for every career stage, Talking Food is guaranteed to get people doing just that.

With so many experts on the ground, it makes sense that many visitors will want to hear their tips and trips, and Fine Food Australia’s Ask The Experts session is designed to facilitate exactly that. One on one appointments with industry experts gives a very different opportunity for visitors to get up close and personal with key guests to ask their burning industry questions!

Networking opportunities also abound this year, and Wednesday morning sees the introduction of a brand new business gathering specifically designed for women in the industry. Highlighting the role that women play in the food industry is a new objective of Fine Food this year, and the first Women in Food Service Morning Tea charity event will be held offsite on 17 September. Keynote speakers Carolyn Creswell who has made Carmen’s food products a household name across the country, and Jacky Magid from Charlie’s Cookies will share their experiences over a seated morning tea with sparkling wine. Carolyn and Jacky will share insights and learnings from starting their businesses from scratch, and getting in front of the industry through events such as Fine Food.
