New strata legislation in force 1 December
It’s official… the new Queensland Property Occupations Act will be proclaimed on 1 December. This is a significant milestone for our industry and will positively impact the roles and responsibilities of resident managers and all those involved in the management rights industry.
The reform of the Property Agents and Motor Dealers Act began in 2008. ARAMA, along with other industry sectors, have made significant contributions to the review process and engaged in detailed consultation over many years. Ultimately the goal was to divide the old legislation into logical industry sectors, reduce red tape, and create efficiencies.
The Office of Fair Trading will soon be releasing the new forms and protocols associated with the four acts. ARAMA is already scheduling training sessions in Brisbane, Gold Coast, and the Sunshine Coast in November for all ARAMA members to familiarize themselves with all the upcoming changes and forms. ARAMA wishes to extend our appreciation to the OFT for agreeing to be part of this roll out to our members. We at ARAMA also wish to thank the attorney-general and minister for justice Jarrod Bleijie for his personal I review process and engaged in detailed consultation over many years.
