Explosion threat causes resort evacuation
Guests and residents at the Marcoola Beach Resort on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast were forced to evacuate when a man alledgedly threatened to cause an explosion on the second floor of the six-storey complex.
A 50-year-old man who alledgedly threatened to explode a gas bottle was arrested but admitted to hospital following the three-hour drama.
Inspector Mike Miley said police negotiators talked extensively to the man before entering the apartment.
An emergency situation was declared under the Public Safety Preservation Act after police were called but was later revoked.
