Bitcoin for Webjet customers
Webjet is trialling Bitcoin on Webjet Exclusives as a payment currency making it one of the first OTAs to accept the electronic currency.
Webjet has signed up the Australian bitcoin merchant services company BitPOS to settle its Bitcoin transactions, according to Paul Ryan, the head of its Webjet Exclusives’ unit.
Webjet is trialling Bitcoin before potentially expanding the payment option to other products such as flights, accommodation and travel insurance. Webjet Exclusives was launched in 2014 to offer customers entire holiday packages rather than just flights or accommodation.
Bitcoin is currently fetching below $300.
