$15 million development for Sunshine Coast health hub

Construction has started on a $15 million upmarket hotel which will provide much needed accommodation for visitors to Queensland’s Sunshine Coast from 2016.

Part of Stockland’s $880 million Oceanside Health Hub development including a new Sunshine Coast Public University Hospital and the recently opened Sunshine Coast University Private Hospital, the new 80-room Best Western Plus Oceanside Kawana is expected to be completed by December 2015.

The hotel is being developed by Sunshine Coast-based group Triple B Hotels P/L, which has signed Best Western as the operating brand.

Best Western Australasia’s chief executive, Rob Anderson said the hotel would have the equivalent of a 4½-star rating and represented a welcome return to the coast for Best Western.

“We anticipate the Best Western Plus Oceanside Kawana will open before the year’s end,” Mr Anderson said.

“This newly developed property will offer high quality deluxe to executive suites for short-term stays and visiting professionals attending conferences. It will help cater for families and workers visiting the Oceanside Health Hub medical precinct and support tourism growth for the greater Sunshine Coast region,” he said.

The four-storey hotel will feature a modern interior design in 80 generous-sized rooms, a restaurant with indoor and outdoor dining, two conference rooms and secure car parking. It will occupy a prime 3259m² site on the corner of Florey Boulevard and Shine Court. As with all Best Western properties, free wifi will be available for guests.
