TripTease responds to Booking.com letter threatening legal action
The travel start-up’s “chief tease” Charlie Osmond told accomnews, “The letter was a little surprise, but we’re delighted by our partners’ positive reaction and support”.
Booking.com accused Triptease of “unlawfully accessing Booking.com’s data” in an email sent to hotel partners, according to online reports.
While several different hotels have received this email, the exact number is unclear. According to the email, which has been re-published on Hotel Speak, Booking.com has asked its hotel partners “to remove the Booking.com brand and rates from the widget on [their] website prior to Friday 27 November 2015. If you are unable to do this, we ask that you remove the TripTease widget from your website entirely”.
accomnews has reached out to Booking.com and is awaiting comment.
Mr Osmond added: “We’re working on resolving the matter with Booking.com and hope that it will be concluded in ultimately what’s right for the hotel guest and for the industry.
