$1.7m holiday park upgrade reaches second stage
North Coast Holiday Parks (NCHP) Seal Rocks has undergone a significant facelift, with $1.7 million spent on vital infrastructure in the park. This is the second stage of upgrades to the popular park, with hopes that completion of the project will promote a status as one of NSW’s most pristine holiday destinations.
Once the third and final stage is completed in 2017, NSW Crown Holiday Parks Trust (NSWCHPT) will have spent $7.5 million on the park. The stage 2 upgrades have been carried out under the Trust’s vision to excite guests and energise local communities in which their parks are located.
North Coast Holiday Parks is part of NSWCHPT, which manages 36 coastal and inland holiday parks and a number of recreational reserves located on NSW Crown land in some of the state’s most iconic locations. NSWCHPT also incorporates Inland Waters Holiday Parks and South Coast Holiday Parks.
Upgrades completed so far at NCHP Seal Rocks include:
- Finalisation of new roads and a relocated park entrance
- Upgrades to the sewer, water and electrical networks
- Installation of a new amenities block and manager’s residence
- Relocation of four cabins
- Demolition of the old amenities blocks, tanks and maintenance shed
- Retaining walls and new powered sites
Member for Myall Lakes, Stephen Bromhead MP said the upgrades at Seal Rocks conveyed the region’s rise as one of NSW’s great tourist locations.
“The Trust has worked hard over the last three years to develop Seal Rocks as an unmissable spot on the NSW camping and caravanning trail and I congratulate them for their efforts,” Mr Bromhead said. “The park is a great community asset to our region and the new facilities will enhance the holiday experience at Seal Rocks.”
Park Manager Katrina Cawley said she was thrilled with the upgrades and evolution of Seal Rocks as a must-visit holiday spot and looked forward to greeting guests at the newly improved park.
“Our new office with two work stations means we can check guests in quicker and our new amenities block will make all the difference at shower time,” Ms Cawley said.
“Children with bikes and scooters love the new roads. The new water front sites are also proving to be very popular.
“We are looking forward to the final third stage of works to start rolling out next year where we will see our new camp kitchen and guest lounge overlooking the water; perfect for happy hour!”
NSWCHPT CEO Steve Edmonds called the project part of the Trust’s commitment to developing their parks into some of the most iconic holiday destinations in the state.
“The Stage 2 Civil Works project has seen a great deal of maintenance occur in the park to ensure the guest experience at Seal Rocks is second to none,” Mr Edmonds said.
“The project has been a great success and is a continuation of our goal to provide improved services to our park visitors as we look to become a leading provider of recreational destinations which showcase the best of NSW.”
