Bonza development for Aussie discount domestic air travel in 2022

New airline throws down the gauntlet to Qantas, Jetstar, Virgin and Rex

Filling the gap left by Virgin Australia subsidiary Tigerair last year, domestic discount carrier Bonza Airlines has announced its plans to launch into Australian skies from early 2022 pending regulatory approval.

Founder and CEO, Tim Jordan said Bonza will launch into Australian airspace with a fleet of brand new Boeing 737-8 aircraft, targeting regional Australia instead of the bigger cities like Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane where he said the markets are already competitive.

While the airline has identified 45 Australian airports, intended routes and head office location are yet to be revealed.

Mr Jordan’s background with discount airlines extends to 25 years and includes stints with Cebu Pacific and Virgin Blue.

Most recently, he was the managing director of FlyArystan, the first low-cost carrier to operate in Central Asia.

Bonza Airlines is backed by the US investment firm 777 Partners headquartered in Miami, Florida.
