MG Motor commits to multi-million-dollar three-year EV charger roll-out
Regional success paves way for major Australian metro installation program
Following the successful rollout of its regional charging infrastructure program earlier this year, MG Motor Australia and New Zealand has today announced that it is extending its Hotel ChargeHub Partner Program to major metropolitan centres across Australia.
Over the next three years, up to 1,000 locations across the country will be provided with electric vehicle charging stations.

With up to 3,000 units on offer across Australia and New Zealand, the infrastructure will support local businesses across, including hotels and resorts based in city centres and hubs, which represents a multi-million-dollar investment by MG Motor.
Existing beneficiaries of the regional rollout include the Hilton Garden Inn Albany, Best Western Hotels & Resorts, and the Park Ridge Retreat.
MG Motor Australia and New Zealand CEO, Peter Ciao said that in Australia, purchase price is the biggest barrier to adoption of electric vehicles, closely followed by concern at the lack of public charging infrastructure.
“The extension of our Hotel ChargeHub Partner Program demonstrates our commitment to supporting Australian communities, by providing businesses and consumers alike with the necessary infrastructure to support the transition to electric,” he said.
The new EV charging network – based on MG’s own award-winning ChargeHub – will be delivered to operators spanning the entire country, with successful applicants required to pay a one-off $330 admin fee inclusive of GST, representing savings upwards of $1,660 off the recommended retail price (RRP) for a single EV charging unit.
Available in 7kW single-phase and 11Kw three-phase configurations, the MG ChargeHub typically retails at $1,990 and $2,090 respectively. The chargers are also Open Charge Point Protocol (OCPP) compliant so may be installed with third party software to provide operators the option to charge guests for charging.
“These chargers will not only enhance each venue’s customer experience, but will also reassure electric vehicle owners that they can drive around Australia with ease,” Mr Ciao said.
MG Motor has opened applications to prospective venue operators in metro centres across the country. Interested parties simply submit their expressions of interest at mgelectric.com.au.
