Crystalbrook Sam is set to be a landmark development, featuring 206 guest rooms and suites spread across 13 levels, along with a grand lobby designed for communal gatherings, a pool, and a state-of-the-art fitness centre. The hotel’s most unique feature will be a rooftop Eléme bathhouse and day spa, offering panoramic views of the Adelaide Hills and the city’s central business district. Additionally, the hotel will boast a versatile meetings and events space and a new food and beverage venue on level 12, highlighting Adelaide’s finest local produce.
The project is scheduled for completion in 2026.
Geoff York, Chief Executive Officer of Crystalbrook Collection Hotels & Resorts, expressed enthusiasm for the project: “Adelaide is fast becoming a global destination and one of Australia’s leading tourism markets that offers exceptional food and wine, unrivalled nature experiences and a vibrant art and cultural scene. We believe this project will transform the site on Halifax Street and be a catalyst in adding to Adelaide’s growing status as a leading lifestyle destination.
“This project marks an exciting and significant expansion for Crystalbrook into one of Australia’s fastest growing cities.”
Premier Malinauskas praised the development, emphasising its contribution to Adelaide’s growing $10.2 billion visitor economy. “On so many independent measures, we are the number one performing economy in the nation, and this project will drive significant further growth in our tourism and hospitality sectors,” he said.
“The Crystalbrook Sam project will create over 100 new jobs during the construction period, and an estimated 120 new jobs once the hotel is operational.”
Chris Samaras, Chief Executive Officer of Samaras Group, highlighted the company’s deep connection to Adelaide and their passion for developing a world-class luxury lifestyle project in their home city. He stated, “Crystalbrook Sam has been thoughtfully designed to celebrate the spirit of the local area while introducing something new and exciting that will attract both locals and visitors to Adelaide.”
Samaras Group, known for their expertise in large-scale commercial and industrial developments such as the Adelaide Convention Centre and Rod Laver Arena, is entering the hospitality sector with this project. The collaboration with Crystalbrook Collection, which operates eight award-winning hotels across New South Wales and Queensland and is known for its innovative sustainability-led practices, marks a significant expansion into one of Australia’s fastest-growing cities.
As Crystalbrook Collection continues to invest heavily in Australia, with nearly 2000 hotel rooms and another development underway in Canberra, the partnership with Samaras Group for Crystalbrook Sam signifies a commitment to enhancing Adelaide’s hospitality landscape and reinforcing the city’s position as a premier lifestyle destination.
