Trilogy Hotels expands Western Sydney presence with Mercure Penrith management

The first management partnership between Trilogy Hotels and Serene Capital, a real estate investment and management company.

Independent hotel management company Trilogy Hotels has officially assumed management of Mercure Penrith, a contemporary hotel adjacent to the Panthers Penrith Leagues Club. The move strengthens a growing sports, entertainment, and accommodation precinct that also includes the Pullman Penrith and the Western Sydney Conference Centre.

The agreement marks the first management partnership between Trilogy Hotels and Serene Capital, a real estate investment and management company with more than $850 million in assets under management, including 15 hotels nationwide. Trilogy now manages seven hotels in Greater Western Sydney, further cementing its expertise in the fast-growing region.

Accor will continue to provide global brand recognition, distribution, and loyalty program support under the Mercure franchise.

The 222-room Mercure Penrith offers a fitness centre, guest lounge, outdoor swimming pool, BBQ area and ample parking. Its location next to the Panthers Precinct and the Western Sydney Conference Centre (capable of hosting up to 1000 seated guests) enhances its appeal for business, events, and leisure travellers.

The area is also home to live music venues and adrenaline attractions such as Aqua Golf, iFly Indoor Skydiving, and Cables Wake Park, with the Blue Mountains just a short drive away.

“We are very proud to partner with Serene Capital and Accor to manage the Mercure Penrith,” said Scott Boyes, CEO of Trilogy Hotels. “Glen and his team have built a strong business that will be a wonderful addition to the precinct and lay the groundwork for a very exciting future.”

Glen Boultwood, CEO and Co-Founder of Serene Capital, said the partnership comes at a pivotal moment for Western Sydney.

“We are delighted to collaborate with Trilogy Hotels on our first franchise arrangement in Australia as we prepare for the opening of the Western Sydney International Airport (WSI). Our goal is to ensure the Panthers Precinct remains the go-to destination for conferencing, sport, and entertainment for local, domestic, and international guests.”

Western Sydney (Australia’s third-largest economy) is on the cusp of major transformation with the WSI set to open in late 2026 and forecast to welcome 10 million passengers annually by 2031. Infrastructure upgrades, including new road and rail connections between Penrith and the airport, are already underway.

With a growing portfolio in the region, Trilogy Hotels is positioning itself as a key partner for both public and private stakeholders looking to unlock Western Sydney’s tourism potential.

“With a new airport around the corner, these positive partnerships highlight the very bright future we have ahead of us,” Boyes added. “It’s an exciting time to be a hotelier in Greater Sydney.”
