Mercure Melbourne La Trobe Street prepares for March opening

The hotel brings a bold new expression of our Mercure brand to the heart of the city, thoughtfully designed for how today’s travellers live, work and explore.

A new chapter is about to begin on La Trobe Street, with Mercure Melbourne La Trobe Street entering its final construction phase ahead of a scheduled March 2026 opening.

Located at 492 La Trobe Street, the hotel places guests in the thick of Melbourne’s CBD energy. With direct access to Marvel Stadium, Southern Cross Station, Queen Victoria Market and the city’s iconic laneway precinct, and just moments from Flagstaff Gardens, the address speaks directly to both business travellers and weekend explorers.

The property will feature six premium suites, a restaurant, a gym and contemporary rooms tailored to modern travel patterns. The design brief centred on quality and considered detail rather than speed to market.

“This is an important milestone for the business as our first hotel development,” said Angela Liang, Managing Director of Spacious Property Development Group.

“We prioritised getting it right over moving quickly, with quality informing every decision in the design. Ensuring the outcome felt considered was critical, and we’re excited to share the completed project in the weeks ahead.”

For Accor, the opening marks a strategic addition to its Melbourne portfolio.

“The opening of Mercure Melbourne La Trobe Street is a hugely exciting moment for Accor and for Melbourne’s tourism offering,” said Adrian Williams, Chief Operating Officer of Accor in the Pacific region.

“The hotel brings a bold new expression of our Mercure brand to the heart of the city, thoughtfully designed for how today’s travellers live, work and explore. It’s a standout addition to our Melbourne portfolio and a great example of what can be achieved when local vision is combined with the scale and expertise of a global hotel operator.”
