New GM at Cairns Resort
Steven Oakley has been appointed general manager of the 240 room, 20 apartment Rydges Esplanade Resort in Cairns. This announcement follows the departure of Kellie Eustace to take up the position of general manager at Reef House Resort & Spa, Palm Cove.
Rydges Hotels and Resorts area general manager for Cairns, Matthew Hurley said he is delighted to welcome Steven into the team. “A passionate, dedicated and results-driven professional, Steven has embraced his move to Cairns and has already hit the ground running in his new role. I look forward to working with Steven and his team.”
For the past 12 months Steven used his skills as a savvy business operator to general manage Amalgamated Holdings Ltd’s Event Cinemas in Sydney at Bondi Junction and more recently, Top Ryde City. Despite not having a background in cinema management, Steven was able to achieve the best year to date bottom line as of November last year.
Prior to that, Steven spent 18 months as the executive assistant manager at Rydges’ Capricorn Resort Yeppoon after four years with New Zealand’s FRENZI Group.
