Mega-tower sold to Singapore developer
The Australia 108 mega-tower in Melbourne – slated to be the highest residential building in the southern hemisphere – has been sold by the consortium led by architect Nonda Katsalidis.
Planned to have 108 floors and rise to 388m, the height of Australia 108 had to be reduced to just 312m after it was found the building infringed air safety regulations for Essendon airport.
Architects Fender Katsalidis and planning minister Matthew Guy were unaware of the flight path height restrictions when the tower – that included a six-star hotel – was designed and approved.
Aspial Corporation of Singapore has now acquired the Australia 108 project just before Christmas.
