Victoria’s best accommodation honoured

Victoria’s top accommodation hotels have been recognised at the 2014 Tourism Accommodation Australia (Victoria) Awards for Excellence, with the winners announced at a gala dinner at the Grand Hyatt on 26 May.

Louise Asher, minister for tourism and major events presented the prestigious TAA award for “Outstanding Contribution to the Industry” and the “Hotel Industry Rising Star” award.

The “Outstanding Contribution to the Industry” awardee was Peter Crinis, chief operating officer, hotels and food & beverage for Crown Resorts. In his current role, Peter is responsible for one of Australia’s largest and most significant tourism and hotel investments as well as significant off shore hotel properties.

The “Hotel Industry Rising Star” recognises a young emerging talent in the accommodation industry and the 2014 awardee was Sofitel Melbourne on Collins – reservation sales manager, Michael Brennan.

• Superior Accommodation Hotel of the Year – Crown Promenade, Melbourne

• Boutique Style Accommodation of the Year – Adelphi Hotel, Melbourne
• Resort Style Accommodation of the Year – Silverwater Resort Phillip Island
• Regional Accommodation of the Year – Four Points by Sheraton Geelong
• Deluxe Restaurant of the Year – No35, Sofitel Melbourne on Collins
• Hotel Restaurant of the Year – dish, Royce Hotel, Melbourne
• Regional Hotel Restaurant – Atrium Restaurant, Quality Hotel Wangaratta Gateway
• Hotel Bar of the Year – ARIA bar & lounge , The Langham Melbourne
• Outstanding Contribution to the Industry – Peter Crinis, Crown Resorts
• Administration Employee of The Year – Erica McDonagh , The Langham Melbourne
• Concierge of The Year – Kore Ormsby, Crowne Plaza Melbourne
• Food & Beverage Services Employee of The Year – Paul Griffiths, Rydges Melbourne
• Front Office Services Employee of The Year – Clifford Austin , InterContinental Melbourne The Rialto & Andrew Edwards, Rendezvous Grand Hotel Melbourne
• Hotel Industry Rising Star – Michael Brennan, Sofitel Melbourne on Collins
• Sales & Marketing Employee of The Year – Teresa Bricknell, Parkroyal Melbourne Airport
