Conrad Hotels & Resorts appoints Peter Jon Lindberg director of inspiration
Tasked with driving the vision behind Conrad’s Stay Inspired initiative, Lindberg will assume the role on April 18.
The successful Stay Inspired brand initiative, which launched in October 2015, “trains and empowers team members to be avid storytellers for their destinations, offering guests insider know-how and under-the-radar experiences not found in the pages of a guidebook,” according to the company. Lindberg will play an integral role in working with onsite concierge teams to curate Conrad’s collection of bespoke 1, 3, and 5 hour itineraries that inspire guests to seek out local culture, art, food, and adventure at each of the brand’s 24 properties around the globe.
“The Stay Inspired initiative was developed because we understand that traveling is not just about the destination for our guests, it’s about the journey,” said John T.A. Vanderslice, global head, Conrad Hotels & Resorts. “As a respected voice in the travel industry, Peter’s innate ability to uncover, cultivate, and highlight the most compelling aspects of a location makes him an ideal candidate to lead this initiative as Director of Inspiration.”
Lindberg joins Conrad following his tenure as executive editor at Condé Nast Traveler, one of the world’s top luxury travel magazines. Prior to joining Condé Nast Traveler, Peter spanned the globe as editor at large for both Travel + Leisure and Saveur. Peter is a two-time James Beard Award finalist and has been named a Travel Journalist of the Year by the Society of American Travel Writers. In 2010, his travel columns and commentary were nominated for a National Magazine Award.
As director of inspiration, Peter will leverage more than 23 years of experience in the travel space to propel the Stay Inspired mission forward. The Stay Inspired initiative and brand-wide mindset represents a cultural shift in hospitality that transforms the traditional concierge experience into a storytelling opportunity about each destination.
“Today’s luxury traveller is smarter and far more demanding, and actively seeks out experiences unique to that destination and that culture,” said Peter. “I’m thrilled to be partnering with such an innovative global brand, and look forward to crafting these one-of-a-kind experiences for Conrad guests around the world.”
