Quest sets sights on Blacktown and Truganina

Fast growing areas ripe for Quest expansion

Quest Apartment Hotels has announced its plans to build properties in two of Australia’s fastest growing municipalities, Blacktown in New South Wales and Truganina in Victoria.

Expected to open in mid-2023, the 82-room Quest Blacktown is hotel is a significant private sector investment in Blacktown’s infrastructure at a time when the western Sydney city suburb is transforming.

When complete Quest Blacktown will occupy the 11 upper floors in the new 23 level mixed-use development, which will also include a retail zone as well as private residences.

Quest’s general manager of growth and capital strategy, James Shields, says the announcement comes at a time when Blacktown City is enjoying strong economic advancement, where the population is tipped to exceed that of Tasmania in the next 10 years, and annual economic activity surpassing $26 billion.

“Blacktown Local Government Area is currently home to over 23,000 local businesses and is poised for considerable growth in the coming years, with a number of major infrastructure, productivity, and liveability projects underway”, said Shields.

“It’s understood there will be an increase in knowledge-intensive and population-serving jobs, especially in the health and education sectors, and Quest will be well placed to sustain the long and short stay travel requirements emerging”, said Shields.

Located 22km west of the Melbourne CBD in the City of Wyndham, 75-toom Quest Truganina will be the first hotel delivered in the suburb.

Part of a mixed-use development, Quest Truganina will provide a mix of one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments, occupying four of the building’s six levels, plus ground floor reception, conference facility, business lounge and gymnasium.

Wyndham is one of the largest and fastest growing municipalities in Australia, with a population of over 280,000 that’s tipped to exceed half a million by 2041.

“In late 2018, retailer Target moved its headquarters to the Williams Landing Town Centre, where an additional hundred businesses and the State Government of Victoria have tenancies, reflecting the desirability of Melbourne’s west for employers and employees alike across a broad range of industries,” Mr Shields said.

“There’s a clear opportunity to capitalise on demand and provide quality accommodation the growing business segment travelling to the area.” said Quest General Manager of Growth and Capital Strategy, James Shields.

About 40 minutes’ drive from both Geelong and Melbourne, Truganina is currently home to over 20,000 people and 1,500 registered businesses, with the suburb anticipated to employ around 23,000 people by 2031.

While Quest has several established apartment hotels in Melbourne’s outer west, Shields says requirement continues to increase parallel to economic growth and investment.
