Every day its-AA getting closer
Progression update on TAA-AA amalgamation: It's on track for mid-2023 completion
As the planned progression of the amalgamation of the Accommodation Association and Tourism Accommodation Australia moves on, further meetings between the Accommodation Association (AA) National Council and the Tourism Accommodation Australia (TAA) National Board have taken place to continue determining the priorities for the merged entity.
With both the AA and the Australia Hotel Association (AHA) registered under the Fair Work (Registered Organisations) Act, there are a number of regulatory steps to follow as part of the proposed amalgamation process which is on track for completion in mid-2023.

It’s intended that AA Chair, Leanne Harwood will be the inaugural President of the merged entity, with Sean Hunt Vice President, and Bruce Copland Treasurer.
Ms Harwood said that every day is another day closer to completion of the amalgamation process.
“We all welcomed the opportunity to get together and progress our thinking on meeting the big ticket items that continue to challenge our sector. Workforce and skills shortages are, of course, at the top of that list,” she said.
“Next year is going to be a landmark year as we unlock the power of a unified national voice in Accommodation Australia at such a critical recovery stage for our members.
“The Fair Work Commission is currently reviewing documentation and we remain quietly hopeful of a July 1, 2023 amalgamation day.”
TAA CEO and interim AA CEO, Michael said after a solid day of meetings for both TAA and the Accommodation Association, it was a great high note to finish with a joint meeting of what will be the new Accommodation Australia Board once the amalgamation concludes.
“Leanne Harwood and Sean Hunt ran a tight meeting dedicating time to the primary issues while also achieving 100 percent support for a dedicated planning and strategy meeting to kick off 2023,” he said.
