The Hoxton heads Down Under

Melbourne to welcome iconic hotel in 2027

The Hoxton, renowned for its distinctive blend of culture and community, is set to make its long-anticipated debut in Australia. Ennismore, the rapidly expanding lifestyle and leisure hospitality company, has announced the signing of The Hoxton’s first Australian property in Melbourne’s vibrant Cremorne neighbourhood.

This new venture is slated to open in 2027, bringing the brand’s unique style and energy to the region.

In partnership with the design-driven property developer Alfasi Group, The Hoxton will be a key part of the Matchworks Precinct at 560 Church Street, Cremorne. The hotel will feature 198 guestrooms in the brand’s signature categories—Cosy, Roomy, and Biggy—offering a variety of accommodation options to suit different needs. Known for its lively, open-door lobbies, The Hoxton Melbourne will integrate the local culture through carefully curated art, design, retail, and eclectic programming, all inspired by the building’s rich history and the surrounding creative community.

The hotel will also house three distinct food and beverage outlets, including an all-day dining destination, a café-bar, and a signature restaurant. Additionally, guests and locals alike will enjoy The Apartment, a hybrid event space featuring a communal pantry, and a well-equipped gym to cater to wellness needs.

Cremorne, a suburb renowned for its mix of Victorian terraces and repurposed warehouses, has evolved into one of Melbourne’s most exciting creative hubs. The area, known for its innovation and growing array of top-tier restaurants, wine bars, and cafes, is an ideal match for The Hoxton’s brand. Located on the eastern fringe of Melbourne’s CBD, the hotel will offer excellent connectivity to the city via public transport, major roads, and bike paths.

Sharan Pasricha, Founder & Co-CEO of Ennismore, expressed excitement about the Melbourne project:  “Our guests and brand followers have long been asking for a Hoxton in Australia, and we’re thrilled to finally make it happen in a brilliant building steeped in history and started life as a matchstick factory. We look forward to making our guests feel at home while discovering the very best of our new neighbourhood.”

Gill Dvir, Managing Director of Alfasi Group, shared similar sentiments, emphasising the project’s alignment with the community-focused vision: “With its strong focus on community and neighbourhood, The Hoxton perfectly aligns with our vision for this world-class precinct.”

This signing marks a significant expansion of The Hoxton’s portfolio, which currently includes 16 hotels across the UK, Europe, and North America, with new openings on the horizon in Edinburgh, Florence, and Oslo. The Melbourne property also contributes to Ennismore’s growing presence in Australia, which includes upcoming projects like the Mondrian Hotel and Residences Gold Coast, Hyde Perth, and 25hours The Olympia Sydney.
