Sunshine Coast farmstay Sixty6 Acres adds powered sites for luxe caravan and camping experience
Sixty6 Acres opened in 2023, marrying rich country heritage with stylish accommodation.
After redefining the farmstay experience with luxe villa-style accommodation, Sixty6 Acres has unveiled a new on-site restaurant, six mineral plunge pools and a range of activities to support 93 powered sites for caravans and camping.
Situated in Woombye, in the heart of the Sunshine Coast, Sixty6 Acres opened in 2023, marrying rich country heritage with stylish accommodation in six two-bedroom farm Quarters (sleeping four) and a three-bedroom Acreage cottage with outdoor bathhouse (sleeping six).
The villa-style accommodation has been extremely popular with visitors seeking spacious, luxe accommodation set in a vibrant rural setting – and yet just 15 minutes’ drive from the Sunshine Coast’s renowned beaches.
The vast grounds of Sixty6 Acres means that the 93 new powered sites (many with concrete pads) offer visitors an unrivalled level of space and privacy, complemented by high quality dining and onsite activities.
The new hilltop Farmhouse restaurant, commercial kitchen and bar continues in the same luxury theme with rich colours, designer touches and thoughtful inclusions throughout.
The menu focuses on the region’s rich local produce and is complemented by a curated beverage list emphasising local craft beers and spirits. The chef will incorporate produce from the extensive plantings of fruit trees, vegetables and herbs grown on the property.
The Farmhouse has indoor seating for 65 diners plus lounges and occasional chairs where guests can relax with friends or a good book and enjoy afternoon tea or drinks from local brewers, distillers and wine makers.
Reflecting Woombye’s heritage as a prime pineapple growing area, thousands of pineapple plants are already delivering a prolific crop of the luscious fruit that will be used for drinks and dishes in The Farmhouse.
The property offers activities including nature walks, farm pets, pitch and putt golf and seven heated mineral plunge pools adjacent to The Farmhouse Restaurant.
Fully tiled with submerged seats for socialising, guests have scenic farm vistas from each poolside and can access bar service and food from the restaurant.
Sixty6 Acres owners, Andrew and Jo Pitcher, says the introduction of powered sites will enable travellers who prefer to BYO caravan, RV or camping equipment to enjoy the property’s outstanding range of facilities and services.
“There isn’t anything quite like Sixty6 Acres on the Sunshine Coast and it is quite different from the typical ‘holiday park’ concept,” said Andrew Pitcher.
“We are not looking to compete with the swim up bars and jumping pillows of some bigger operators, this is all about offering a boutique farm-stay experience for discerning travellers.
“We grew up within two kilometres of here and are proudly family owned and operated so we bring lots of personal touches and provide a link to the area’s history.
“Sixty6 Acres is a great example of the growing agritourism trend, combining the opportunity for rural interactions and vistas typical of a farmstay with a firm focus on showcasing the region’s rich agricultural history – especially the pineapples and sugar cane that the Sunshine Coast was once famous for.
“Guests will be able to help harvest their own produce when in season and savour the fruits of their labour on site. It is quite special to have a pineapple daiquiri made using fruit you’ve just picked!
“Kids literally have acres and acres to explore, leaving parents to enjoy the space and pace of farm life, relax in front of a wood burning fire, take a dip in our heated pools or have a sundowner in our deck chairs at The Farmhouse. It makes it an ideal venue for family reunions, group get togethers, staycations and special occasions.”
Perfect for family stays, Sixty6 Acres offers animal interactions, a BMX track and play area. The property is a short drive from The Big Pineapple, Wildlife HQ, Treetops, Thrill Hill and Amaze World, with the Sunshine Coast’s best beaches and stunning hinterland just a 15-minute drive.
