Hyatt House makes Australian debut with New South Melbourne hotel
Hyatt House South Melbourne, where guests will find all the comforts they need, from spacious residential-style rooms to its pet-friendly policy.
Hyatt Hotels Corporation has officially brought its Hyatt House brand to Australia for the first time, opening the doors to Hyatt House South Melbourne on July 1. The launch expands Hyatt’s global footprint and marks the final stage in the broader OASIS Residences development.
Located in the heart of South Melbourne, the 97-room property is designed to offer the comforts of home for both short and long stays. It’s a milestone moment for Holder East Pty Ltd., which led the joint venture behind the development, with Hyatt operating the hotel.

Hyatt House South Melbourne features residential-style Studios and one-bedroom Suites, all with fully equipped kitchens, plush bedding and generous living areas. In a nod to the growing trend of pet-friendly travel, the hotel welcomes cats and dogs up to 30 kilograms— positioning it as one of the first Melbourne hotels to extend this level of hospitality to pets.
General Manager Christian Sujer said the new property delivers a fresh take on the extended-stay experience.
“As Melbourne continues to grow and thrive economically, we’re excited to welcome the first Hyatt House to the city,” Mr Sujer said. “Guests will find all the comforts they need, from spacious residential-style rooms to our pet-friendly policy that makes travelling with cats and dogs that much easier.”
Guests have access to complimentary Wi-Fi and a daily breakfast bar offering hot and cold options. There’s also a 24-hour Market for grab-and-go meals, plus The Bar serving coffee, cocktails, wine and premium beers.
Other facilities include a 24/7 fitness centre, self-service laundry and a ‘necessities’ program for items guests might have forgotten to pack.

The hotel is ideally positioned near Albert Park Lake, the Royal Botanic Gardens, the Melbourne Arts Precinct and the new ANZAC Station, making it a convenient base for solo travellers, families, corporate guests and hybrid workers alike.
Holder East’s Chief Operations Officer CJ Wu said the opening caps off years of vision and planning for the OASIS Residences precinct.
“Hyatt House South Melbourne marks the final and most exciting chapter for OASIS Residences,” Mr Wu said. “This development sets a new benchmark for luxurious living in South Melbourne, and the hotel completes the vision with accommodation that caters to every type of traveller.”
World of Hyatt members can take advantage of new opening bonuses, earning 500 Bonus Points per qualifying night from July 1 to September 30, plus up to 16,000 Bonus Points for stays at participating Hyatt House hotels until September 7.
