Reflections unveils new Tumut River tiny homes in $900,000 regional investment

Reflections Holidays has launched four new tiny homes at its Tumut River park as part of a $900,000 investment, with the upgrades set to deliver more than $1.2 million a year in tourism value to the region.

Reflections Holidays has launched four new tiny homes at its Tumut River holiday park, marking an accommodation first for the popular regional destination and signalling further capital investment to come.

Since being appointed Crown land manager in early 2025, Reflections has invested more than $900,000 into Reflections Tumut River and estimates the upgrades will inject an additional $1.2 million in annual tourism revenue into the local economy.

The new tiny homes were inspected this week by Reflections Holidays Chief Executive Officer Nick Baker alongside Steve Kamper, NSW Minister for Tourism and Jobs, who said the Riverina Murray region was well positioned to support the state’s long-term visitor economy growth.

Mr Kamper said the NSW Government’s 2035 Destination NSW Strategy targeted $91 billion in annual visitor expenditure by 2035, with nature-based tourism set to play a central role.

“The Riverina Murray visitor economy delivered 5.4 percent of the region’s jobs in 2023 to 2024, supports 3,296 businesses and directly delivers three percent or $681 million of the region’s Gross Value Add, which has grown at an average of 7.8 percent each year since 2016,” Mr Kamper said.

“This region attracted 6.1 million visitors and 9.5 million visitor nights in 2024, and it is exciting that Reflections Tumut River is among the accommodation providers supporting world-class events in this growing region.”

A certified social enterprise, Reflections Holidays reinvests profits back into its 40 holiday parks and the 47 nature reserves it cares for throughout New South Wales.

In Tumut, recent works have extended beyond the tiny homes, with upgrades to guest internet, park-wide Wi-Fi and security, alongside improvements to existing facilities including the camp kitchen and cabins.

Mr Baker said the majority of trades involved in the Tumut River upgrades were sourced locally or within an 80-kilometre radius, spanning builders, electricians, surveyors, locksmiths and nurseries. One local plumber was also able to employ an additional apprentice as a result of the project.

“Reflections is committed to making a broader positive social impact in Tumut,” Mr Baker said.

As part of this commitment, Reflections engaged Nourish Consulting to host a community workshop with local business owners, tourism operators and community groups to identify what matters most to the region and how the park can contribute.

Workshop participants identified community pride and belonging, local jobs and training, environmental stewardship and support for community groups, events and local businesses as key areas where Reflections could make a meaningful contribution.

A separate report prepared by Nourish Consulting found the estimated social wellbeing value created by Reflections Tumut River holiday park for the local community exceeds $8 million.

“In practice, that is a significant contribution. It is comparable to providing each person with a substantial annual benefit through improved quality of life, belonging, access to nature and economic stability. It shows Reflections is not just an accommodation provider but also a major driver of community wellbeing in Tumut,” the report stated.

Mr Baker said Reflections was proud to partner with Snowy Valleys Council and would continue to work closely with local stakeholders to enhance the park for both guests and the community.

Reflections has already supported and sponsored local events including the Rock The Turf music event and the Falling Leaf Festival, with further grassroots partnerships planned.

Reflections’ interest in the Tumut River holiday park also forms part of a strategic tourism link along the Hume and Hovell Track, with Reflections Tumut River connected to two other Reflections parks at Burrinjuck Waters and Wee Jasper Reserve.
