City View Villas
About four years ago whilst on holiday in Port Douglas from Melbourne, Joanne and Ron decided that they both wanted a change from their current jobs. On a few occasions they had received less than average customer service from property managers and after talking with the onsite manager of a resort, decided that management rights would be a great career change for both of them and then went on to set the wheels in motion.
Three years later and for almost nine months now, Joanne and Ron have been operating their own management rights property, City View Villas in Cairns.
Whilst Joanne said it has been a huge learning curve, she and Ron are enjoying themselves and their new business venture.
“For the first six months or so we had little spare time but now we have a reasonable grasp of it and all our systems are in place we are beginning to enjoy it and are always busy.”
Having never stepped foot in the accommodation industry before with Joanne working as a personal assistant for 15 years along with Ron’s 40 years experience as a motor mechanic, the pair had a long list of requirements for their first property.
“We wanted a relatively new complex that was a permanent rental property not holiday accommodation that included a three bedroom manager’s unit, which is very hard to find. City View Villas met all of our criteria, the design and layout of the property was very attractive.”
Permanent Paradise
Located on Robson Street in Mooroobool Cairns, City View Villas is a gated community with 84 villas.
The majority of villas are two-bedroom, two bathroom with seven that are three-bedroom. There are 25 fully furnished villas whilst the remainder are unfurnished.
Facilities in the complex include a large lagoon style pool, lap pool, tennis court and two barbeque pavilions.
Joanne said, “City View Villas has a broad range in terms of demographic of residents, we have some retirees to a couple of teenagers. It is a very broad mix but it works and everyone is great.”
