Maroochy River Resort & Bungalows

Almost eight years ago, Kim Morgan and Linda Stevens purchased the 99-year lease to Maroochy River Bungalows. After four years of hard work, building the property up from a no star to a three-star rating, Kim and Linda more recently bought the neighbouring accommodation complex that is now known as Maroochy River Resort.

Today, the two properties serve as one and cater for all types with the Bungalows offering purely holiday accommodation and the resort a mix of permanent and holiday lettings.

Kim said “These days we cater to a growing number of budget corporate guests. Many out of town businesses do work here on the coast and many local small businesses bring in external consultants. All need good value, self-contained accommodation.

“When we purchased the Bungalows they were a 1½ star rating, now they are three-star. Three stars is as far as we want to take the two properties as we prefer this market, there is enough luxury accommodation available in the area. We love the waterfront location, so central yet so removed.”

A born and bred Sunshine Coast girl, Kim lived overseas for 10 years before deciding to return to her home town and pursue a career where she was working for herself and not someone else.

“Having worked in the hotel consultancy and marketing fields though out Asia, accommodation management was an easy transition and we chose Maroochydore because we believe it is the business hub and centre of the Sunshine Coast providing easy access to the whole of the Coast for people visiting the region for work or for play.”

Unique Waterfront Accommodation

Maroochy River Resort & Bungalows is a unique property. Originally two separate accommodation complexes, the resort features 85 two-bedroom cabins and duplex villas set on six hectares of landscaped gardens with 200m of water frontage whilst the Bungalows are set on 0.4ha with 80m of water frontage and feature 18 one-bedroom self contained cabins.

Each of the bungalows offer a kitchen with oven, bar fridge, microwave, cooking utensils, toaster, kettle, cutlery and crockery, TV and DVD player, ceiling fans and heater.

There are two styles of bungalow cabins available, the waterfront and the garden. There are eight waterfront bungalows, all arranged within 20m of the waters edge and 10 garden cabins as well as one two-bedroom garden bungalow, all located only 50m from the water.

The 85 resort cabins and villas are available in four styles: waterfront cabins; garden cabins; garden duplex and garden villas. All of the resort cabins and villas feature a full sized fridge, microwave, cooking utensils, toaster, kettle, cutlery and crockery, TV and DVD player and reverse cycle air-conditioning in most of the units.

Between the two properties, there is a plethora of leisure facilities including two swimming pools with numerous barbeque areas, tennis courts, kayak and paddleboat hire, on site shop and wireless broadband Internet.
