Trinity Links
Six months is all Trinity Links new managers, Ursula and Richard Thomas, have been in the management rights industry yet in that small amount of time, the couple have learnt a lot about the industry and achieved some pretty impressive feats in the process. When the Thomas first purchased Trinity Links those 24 weeks ago, neither Ursula nor Richard had any experience in the industry. Having come from Noosa, on the Sunshine Coast where Ursula was a nurse at the Noosa Hospital and Richard was a self-employed landscape gardener, the Thomas decided they wanted a change and with it a challenge.
Ursula said management rights was something Richard had wanted to do for a long time. So, they made contact with Monty Van Dyke from Kapitol Brokers and before too long Ursula and Richard were in Cairns viewing Trinity Links.
Ursula said, “What attracted us to the property was it presented a huge challenge. Trinity Links is a large resort with 192 apartments. The occupation is a real mix we have some permanents, owner-occupiers, some holiday lettings and 29 Wyndham Vacation and Resorts Asia Pacific timeshare apartments. As a result the property is always full and we are run off our feet!”
Since hitting the ground sprinting in November last year, Ursula and Richard have not had a day off, working around the clock, seven days a week.
“We have worked every day since we got here. As a result we have achieved a lot. We have worked really hard on the gardens, renovated 29 of the timeshare apartments and are about to start renovating the foyer. Everyone who comes here loves it. It is a very lush tropical resort, in a fantastic location.”
The Thomas’ impressive accomplishments in such a short period of time are also attributed to their hired help. Ursula said they could not have done anything without the help of their wonderful staff.
“When we started we hired all new staff members and we are very lucky to have them. They do a great job and they are very loyal. Because we don’t live on site, we have a lovely night manager and his wife and their little baby who live on site. We couldn’t have got this far without any of them.”
Gateway to Golfing Heaven
Built in 1999, Trinity Links is a prestigious four-star, 10-year-old property located on 5ha beside the third fairway of Cairns Golf Club. Surrounded by 4000 m² of tropical landscaped gardens, the three-storey complex features 192 apartments, which are a mix of permanent, timeshare and holiday lettings as well as a number of owner occupied apartments.
Each apartment features a fully self-contained kitchen with breakfast bar, European appliances including a dishwasher, garbage disposal unit and range hood oven with granite or laminate worktops. Units are tastefully furnished and offer air-conditioning, pay television, Internet connection and private balconies.
There are two room designs, one a three-bedroom and one a two-bedroom both with two bathrooms and a lounge and dining room. The three-bedroom apartments sleep up to six people and the two-bedroom apartments sleep up to four.
The building is laid out in two sections. Four apartment blocks directly over look the golf course while the rest overlook the two 50m pools and hot and cold spas area complete with children’s swimming and paddle pool. Other resort facilities include barbeque area, sauna, synthetic day/night tennis court, fully equipped gymnasium and tour desk. The 5ha property is home to numerous walking and buggy tracks including a direct path to the golf clubhouse. The property is also completely secure with a full perimeter fence, security gates and entrance gate monitored via closed circuit security television.
