Brisbane UniLodge is just one of 19 properties across Australia and New Zealand managed by UniLodge. The extensive property portfolio includes a range of business models including strata titled, one line ownership and on campus properties with a focus on the niche student accommodation market.
In 2006, award-winning property development company, Meridien purchased the UniLodge brand with the vision to take UniLodge to international best practice.
To deliver on these visions, Meridien head hunted property management expert, Eleanor Davidson who had then just been awarded the Queensland Telstra Business Woman of the Year Award. Eleanor is recognised internationally for developing high performing teams and for delivering on customer service excellence. Eleanor’s strong operational background gleaned from 10 years with Hilton with heavy exposure to Asia, having headed up the Carlton group of hotels for 10 years coupled with her close relationships with the university sector through senior advisory roles with several universities including University of Queensland and Griffith University, provided a set of credentials perfect for this exciting role.
On joining Meridien Student Living, Eleanor set about differentiating the brand through the development of a program that enhances the experience of living at a UniLodge property.
Eleanor said, “We are very fortunate as our residents represent the leaders of the future.
Many are international students who travel to Australia for academic pursuits and we wanted to ensure that UniLodge was a key component in delivering a holistic learning and development experience. UniLodge seeks to be a home away from home and to encourage residents to mix and mingle and to learn from each other. We organise outings – everything from trips to theme parks and beaches to golf and such – so that residents can enjoy all that South East Queensland has to offer.”
To deliver on the best practice service standards Eleanor is in pursuit to recruit and to develop a team of high potential individuals who want to join a company with high standards and an aggressive expansion campaign.
Recently, Eleanor recruited Melissa Malouf as manager/property operations for Brisbane UniLodge.
“Melissa is a young property professional having worked in the industry for some 10 years.
She is driven and ambitious and has very high standards in everything thing she does. I have no doubt that she will take our Brisbane property to new levels and will become a key member of our management team.”
