Trilogy Surfers Paradise

Trilogy Surfers Paradise stands tall with three magnificent towers, making it an impressive sight in the heart of the Gold Coast.

This beautiful property boasts 163 stylish and modern self-contained luxury one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments, as well as deluxe and penthouse style apartments with spa bath en suites. All rooms have been tastefully designed and decorated with a neutral colour scheme. They have fully self-contained kitchens with granite benchtops and stainless steel appliances, separate laundries and air-conditioning.

Only seven years old, Trilogy still looks new and is well managed and maintained thanks to managers Wayne and Olwyn Money. “Trilogy opened in late 2005 after completion of the newly constructed resort and the contemporary decor was carefully chosen in neutral colours so as not to date and so it could easily be updated with accessories,” Olwyn says.

She explains they have recently upgraded the manchester with chocolate-coloured bedspreads and she is currently introducing fresh accessories to match the artwork in the rooms that feature limes, oranges and reds.

Olwyn says they took over management rights of the property in August 2008, just before the GFC hit. “The timing was terrific,” she laughs. “We had just come on board and were feeling confident after managing another property, then the GFC hit and we had to rethink our business strategy and streamline everything.”

Olwyn explains they put in all automated and electronic systems to replace previous manual-operated systems as these were quicker and more efficient, and they streamlined general operations and trained up their staff in all areas so it was easier for staff to make decisions.

AN43-1-PRO-Trilogy 3“We noticed in previous businesses, that the systems were really tricky and staff weren’t always trained in all areas so they had to rely on management which, we feel, puts the customer at a disadvantage and doesn’t result in good service,” Olwyn says. “We have great staff and our service is ultimately what keeps customers coming back. You can have a beautiful property with fantastic facilities but it is the warm and friendly service that makes customers feel welcome and want to come back.”

She also says that at Trilogy they have good suppliers and contractors who are efficient, knowledgeable and reliable and provide their services in a cost-effective and timely manner. “Having good suppliers and contractors you can rely on really makes a big difference in the success of a business,” she says.

Olwyn says she and Wayne love working in the accommodation industry and love the Gold Coast, although they didn’t start out in tourism. With a trades background Wayne is in charge of all maintenance.

“I was originally a school teacher and then in 1995 I undertook my travel and tourism diploma and decided that was the career change I was looking for,” she says. “Wayne is a qualified painter and decorator, as well as now having tickets in glass and glazing and cabinet making so his background is ideal for managing the maintenance side of our business.”

AN43-1-PRO-Trilogy 5She says it was while on holidays on the Gold Coast that they learned about the management rights industry and how it works, and this planted the seed for them. Upon returning to Townsville they made the decision to move to the Gold Coast in an accommodation management role but wanted to find the right property first. They packed up their belongings and headed off on a working holiday while looking for the right accommodation property and ended up settling in Carindale, Brisbane.

“We managed a group of townhouses there for three-and-a-half years but when we left we were without a home or a business so we headed down to the Gold Coast because that’s where we really wanted to be.
We bought a house to live in and a glass and aluminium factory business that we spent the next four years building up before selling it,” she says.

Both Olwyn and Wayne then took a ‘gap year’, as Olwyn calls it, to travel overseas and spend time with family while again looking for the right property to manage. When Trilogy became available they jumped at the chance as it was such a beautiful property and still is.

All three towers are set amongst tropical gardens and trickling water features and pools, the resort features a heated swimming pool, sauna, gym, spa, undercover barbecue areas, games room, conference facilities, secure free undercover parking and Trilogy has an AAA eco-friendly rating.

Trilogy is the perfect accommodation for a family getaway, a romantic weekend or a conference gathering, as it is well located close to cafes, restaurants, shops, nightlife and the beach. “We are only 300m from a sandy surf beach and only a five minute walk to the heart of Surfers Paradise, so we really are the best of both worlds,” Olwyn says.
