Classic Holidays career programs awarded for excellence
Classic Holidays has been awarded the Excellence in Advocacy of Career Development Policy by the Career Development Association of Australia (CDAA) for their inspiring workplace training programs.
A national leader of the Work Inspiration program developed by The Smith Family and Partnership Brokers since 2013, Classic Holidays has now established the program as a pathway for local high school students on the Gold Coast, particularly those at risk of dropping out of school.
In receiving the accolade, Classic Holidays was recognised by the judges as a genuine corporate citizen, supporting local communities by giving back to the quality of the local workforce.
‘Classic Holidays’ Work Inspiration and Future Inspirations programs have been pivotal in supporting career development across a broad range of school students on the Gold Coast and enhancing further development of the careers of our own staff,” said Workplace Support Manager, Penny Angus.
Participants of Work Inspiration have transitioned into work experience with Classic Holidays through the School-Based Traineeship program, Future Inspirations, and further into full time, part time and casual employment at Classic Holidays or their Resorts. Some have even been inspired to further their career in hospitality by going on to study Hotel Management.
Staff at the Resort, Member and Club Management company have also gained meaningful outcomes from the programs through their roles as mentors, by sharing the journey of their own career paths, their experiences and what they have learnt along the way.
“The benefit of Work Inspiration is two-fold, through our staff sharing their experiences, their passion for the industry and our company culture, all of which help transition students out of school and into the working arena, whether it be with Classic Holidays, another company or even another industry,” said Ms Angus.
“We are very proud of what we have achieved and continue to achieve with these programs, so it is an honour to receive this accolade from CDAA and be recognised as a national leader in career development.”
Since its inception in 2013, Classic Holidays has welcomed over 100 local high school students into a positive workplace environment through Work Inspiration with a growing number transitioning into further development through the Future Inspirations traineeship program since 2015.
