Chelsea FC to draw guests to WA

60,000 Chelsea FC fans are expected to visit the state from across the country and fill thousands of hotel rooms.

The match will be Chelsea FC’s only appearance in Australia, with tickets to the blockbuster friendly expected to sell out quickly. The match will attract a significant number of interstate and international visitors to travel to Perth, filling hotel rooms and experiencing what the city has to offer.

[pro_ad_display_adzone id=”27469″ align=”left”]The match will be the first international soccer club appearance at the stadium and the first time Chelsea has been to Perth since 1974.

The deal, struck by Tourism Western Australia in partnership with Optus Stadium operator VenuesLive, includes other activity by Chelsea FC in Perth, including open training sessions where fans will have the chance to see players up close.

“Football is hugely popular in our key Asian tourism markets including Singapore, Malaysia and China, as well as across Australia.

“This is a great opportunity for fans in those markets to visit Perth and see one of the most successful Premier League teams of the past 15 years,” said tourism minister Paul Papalia.
