Victoria scores triple tourism wins on national stage

The Victoria Tourism Industry Council congratulated the Victorian winners of the 2017 QANTAS Australian Tourism Awards held recently in Perth.

Victoria secured nine awards in total, three Gold, three Silver and three Bronze. Victoria Tourism Industry Council Chief Executive Felicia Mariani recognised success and highlighted that regional Victoria has a vibrant and growing tourism offering.

“These wins emphasise the strength of our regional tourism sector’s ability to attract visitors beyond Melbourne and engage them in new and innovative ways.

“Each of the Victorian winners operate in different regions which demonstrates that business is flourishing in all corners of the state and delivering high standards of business excellence,” Ms Mariani said.

Parks Victoria received Gold for the Specialised Tourism Services category for its commitment to delivering unparalleled nature-based tourism offerings with innovative forward thinking.

“Parks Victoria is commended for its ability to maintain and celebrate our state’s natural assets. This win
in particular recognises its strategic approach to provide a safe, inclusive visitor experience for all to enjoy regardless of cultural background or physical impairment.”

This year, six of the nine Victorian winners were first-time entrants in their respective categories.

“Two thirds of our winners being first time entrants shows growth across the state and provides a platform for emerging businesses to showcase their exemplary offerings on a national level,” Ms Mariani said.

“The 2017 QANTAS Australian Tourism Awards recognise the valuable contribution our operators make to the national tourism industry and it’s wonderful to see so many Victorians being acknowledged,” she said.
