Red dawn for Perth with new Radisson
Radisson is the latest major hotel group to announce its entry into Perth, the group’s RED brand to make its Australian debut in the WA capital from 2022.
The Radisson RED West Perth will be developed with Barnes Capital on the corner of Wellington and Colin streets opposite the Harold Boas Gardens and will encompass 129-rooms, a restaurant, pool, rooftop bar, function rooms and event space.
The brand is described as “an upscale, select service hotel brand that presents a playful twist on the conventional” through a bold and youthful design and approach.
“Perth is the ideal destination for Radisson RED to make its Australian debut,” said Katerina Giannouka, president of the Radisson Hotel Group for Asia-Pacific.
“With its upbeat street scene, café culture and international outlook, this enterprising city is attracting significant interest from investors and visitors alike.
“Radisson RED West Perth will attract a new generation of travellers who seek smart, stimulating and social stays.”
The announcement of its Perth offering follows the recent opening of major new Art Series and Ritz-Carlton venues for the city, putting further downward pressure on occupancy and revenue for existing operators.
Radission points out the state welcomed 11.1 million overnight visitors in the year to March 2019, up 9.4 percent year-on-year, and the government is now planning to invest $425 million over the next five years to drive tourism and expand airline capacity.
And Martyn Barnes, managing director of the hotel’s developer, Barnes Capital, describes the city as a “growth corridor” for Australia.
“This is a truly original concept that will be a perfect fit for Perth, which is fast becoming one of the country’s primary growth corridors,” he said.
“With its excellent location – surrounded by the city’s main attractions and in close proximity to vibrant cafés and restaurants, and the entertainment precincts of Leederville, Subiaco and Northbridge, we are confident that Radisson RED West Perth will be popular among the rising number of visitors to the city.”
Radisson is one of the world’s largest hotel groups, with eight hotel brands and more than 1,400 hotels in operation or under development around the world. It currently operates hotels in Sydney and Melbourne, and recently secured its first Radisson Collection hotel for the Blue Mountains.
